Westbank commissioned the design of translucent bathroom vanities for Oakridge, inspired by their collaboration with with botanical sculptor Azuma Makoto
The translucent vanities were designed with an almost invisible structure that supports the undermounted sink The functional elements are concealed by the plant life which can be seen from all angles.
This project required a sophisticated fabrication and installation strategy to allow the flowers to be installed and altered as needed. Careful attention was paid to all of the connection details and supporting framework to ensure that the vanity was as transparent as possible, while at the same time providing the necessary structural support.
This installation is currently on display at Westbank's, Oakridge Presentation Centre, located in Vancouver, BC.
